Lois Maddox Course Organiser 'Relax & Write' UK Weekends

'Relax & Write' UK Courses

Malaga Workshops grew some years ago from the personal interests in Writing, Painting and Photography of the founder Lois Maddox.

There was a need to escape from every day demands of work and home chores , to write and take photographs, to sit quietly and sketch.

Where better than an area Lois knows well and staying in places that she could trust to deliver comfortable accommodation and good food, at value for money prices?

Living in Bristol, Lois books Poole Court near Yate, an old Manor House with lots of atmosphere, to run Saturday Courses.  Local Writing Groups and Clubs attended.

Weekend Writing Courses were held at Tortworth Court, near Bristol, a luxury Conference Centre, with beautiful gardens and an interesting history.

Having attended The Writers' Summer School at The Hayes Swanwick in Derbyshire for 17 years and enjoyed her time there, with the help of many Swanickers, Lois started holding Creative Writing Weekends at The Hayes.

These Weekends do not clash with the Summer School.  They give us a chance to continue writing during the year and many members have returned year after year, to enjoy weekend courses during September March and April.  Keep an eye out for the next dates, published in the leading Writing Magazines!

What About Spain?

Lois has enjoyed many visits to Spain and knows Malaga and Andalucia very well.  She is bilingual, English-Spanish.  Has taught Spanish at all levels for many years and worked using her Spanish in London and Bristol.

Trying to polish the draft of a book and hunting for a venue where she could settle, this turned into researching many villages and testing out small family hotels, the food and the wine!

If she needed a place to write, why not share it with a group of writers and enjoy a relaxed exchange of ideas, discussing writing and get down to creating short stories and novels, for profit and pleasure!

Why call the Workshops 'Malaga'?  Mainly because of the Airport.  It is modern, with flights arriving from all over the UK.  If the name was in the title you are sure to arrive at the right destination!

Whether you go on a mini-break and stay in Malaga City, with a beach near the hotel, visiting the old city with its bars, museums, castles and shops or book an 8 day Creative Writing Holiday in the mountain White Village of Grazalema or Zahara de la Sierra, it  will be memorable for its friendly atmosphere and splendid scenery.
