'Write a Short Story'  with Simon Whaley - A Retreat. The numbers are limited on this course. Book early.
 
Simon Whaley is an award-winning writer and best selling author.  His articles and photos have appeared in publications such as BBC Countryfile, Heritage, British Heritage (USA), The People's Friend, Cumbria, In Britain, The Observer, Holiday Villas & Cottages and Flybe Uncovered, and his short stories have been published in The Weekly News, The People's Friend, Take a Break, Ireland's Own and Take a Break's Fiction Feast.  He also successfully sells his images via the Alamy photographic agency. Simon has written thirteen non-fiction books, '100 Ways for a Dog to Train its Human' has sold over 250,000 copies. 
 
Simon has written many articles and books and is an excellent photographer. His courses will introduce you to what editors want. An informal and fun course. This course is suitable for writers at all stages of their writing lives. Ideal for beginners.  The aim is to provide help and guidance in all areas of writing. Simon will also cover creating a proposal, selling ideas to the publisher, should you consider self-publishing? - contact Lois for full details.
 
This  course is suitable for writers who want to write a short story, or have already drafted one and are looking for guidance and time to polish it for publication  Simon is offering individual one-to-one sessions on this retreat. Stephen Wade is a multi-published freelance writer, author of 70 books on true crime (modern and historical), genealogy, military history, biography and poetry  He has taught English and Creative Writing for over 25 years and currently lectures part-time at Hull University. 
 
This course suits all levels of writer. The course is informal and fun.  You will receive constructive feedback on your work. Among the topics to be covered: Preparation: Ideas, Developing your Research Subject. Drafting a synopsis. Structure and Content: Period, People. 'Write a Mini-Memoir in a Weekend' with Alison Chisholm
 
Alison Chisholm is an award-winning poet who has over 800 poems published in magazines, anthologies and eight collections, or broadcast by the BBC Radio 4, Radio Network Northwest and Channel 4 TV.  Alison has written textbooks on aspects of Creative Writing . She teaches in adult education, gives talks and readings, adjudicates competitions and is poetry correspondent for 'Writing Magazine.' 
 
Alison is an excellent Tutor. Her courses are informal fun and friendly. With plenty of time to write and receive constructive feedback on your work and guidance on how to express yourself in the written word.
 
This weekend will give participants the opportunity to bring along their work-in progress for some concentrated writing in a supportive atmosphere.  If you are looking for inspiration and fresh ideas for your writing, these will be offered at the start of each scheduled session. 
 
Bring your memories of childhood, school and first job. Holidays abroad. Illustrate your Mini-Memoir with photos and postcards. Plenty of time to write short anecdotes and poems. You will be amazed just how much you can write in a weekend with 'Relax & Write' and our excellent course leader!
